Welcome to The Minnis

Happy new year everyone!

We trust the festive season went well for you all, hitch free, not too frugal and bountiful booty was found in the sales. Here at The Minnis Christmas went swimmingly well, the success of our festive menu demonstrated that people will never tire of turkey, that vegetarian options can be interesting and women really do have ‘a thing’ about chocolate!

Our party nights with Hullabaloo and The Goosebumps proved hugely enjoyable for all who attended, some evenings were livelier than others it has to be said, especially if any of you were in during the impromptu table tennis event on one particular table. You know who you were and can we just say, you were huge fun!

Now that we’re into the new year, we like to reminisce as always and we look back upon
2009 as perhaps one of the most remarkable years for The Minnis. Struggling through a
recession is never easy but due to the success of the tasty and value for money ‘Credit
Crunch menu’ as well as a successful Valentine’s Evening, business was bobbing along reasonably well. The fire of February 17th was the kind of body blow that could cripple a
thriving business, particularly with a lengthy four-month closure during pivotal events like Mother’s Day and Easter. However The Minnis hit the ground running back in June with
what had to be one of the most unusual and moving weddings that the bay has ever witnessed. That’s something to bear in mind if you are planning your nuptials; The Minnis
likes to take on all manner of things, within reason of course!

Summer thankfully was buoyant and finished with the perfect bang of ‘The Summer
Event’ in the bay. Those of you who weren’t around would have missed out on one of the
most fun Bank Holidays that an August in Birchington has ever seen. The Parish Council
organised a funfair and a plethora of stalls on the bay’s open spaces in order to raise money
for the village’s Christmas Lights and provide a traditional family day. To liase with this
Jason organised a weekend of live music outdoors and a ragingly successful barbecue. For
a brief moment in time a small chunk of the North Sea became interestingly continental!
After all the hard work over the last year we are pleased to announce that we have been
chosen as finalists for the 2009 Kent Restaurant Awards.

So don’t forget that The Minnis will be open and now taking bookings for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter and any other time that you want to come and visit us…

We are also re-building a Mailing List to keep you all informed of what’s going on and
when…. If you would like to join the list, please e-mail us your details…

And finally remember…….. Stay Classy! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
